Change and safe stolen
from rural residence
On August 26, 2008 at approximately 6:30
p.m. Evansburg RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a rural
residence. This residence was located in the vicinity of Highway 22 between
Entwistle and Drayton Valley.
The homeowner was away for the day and
returned home to find that the door had been smashed open and an unknown
number of suspects entered the residence. An amount of change and a safe
were stolen. Nothing else was disturbed.
Given the location of the residence and the
nature of the items stolen it is believed that the suspects arrived at and
departed the property by vehicle.
This incident is still under
investigation. No charges have been laid at this time. Anyone with

Recorders stolen from
four oilfield lease sites
On or between 3 p.m. on August 13 and 11:30
a.m. on August 14, 2008 four Barton Dry-Flow Chart recorders were stolen
from four different oilfield lease sites. The sites were located on the
East Bank Road near Peers, Alberta.
The recorders are described as a 12”x14”
black or grey case containing a number of wires and a 12” round flat chart.
They are valued at approximately $2,000 each.

Police investigate two vehicle fires
Hinton RCMP are investigating two separate
vehicle fires that occurred at Sherwood Drive and Erith Driveon the hill.
Between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on August 20,
unknown suspects set fire to two separate vehicles. There were no injuries
sustained as a result of the fires, however damage is estimated to be
approximately $8,000 to $10,000. Police are requesting help from those who
may have seen anyone suspicious in the area during these hours.

VEHICLE VANDALISM
Hinton RCMP would like to advise the public
of a recent string of vandalism to vehicles in the Town of Hinton. During
the early morning hours on Thursday, August 21, 2008, unknown suspects
caused extensive damage to numerous vehicles in the area of MacLeod Avenue.
Vehicle owners are reminded to take
precautions to ensure their vehicles are secure and to report any suspicious
activity. Anyone with information regarding the recent vandalism is
encouraged to contact the RCMP.

Quad stolen off trailer
On August 17 between 2 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.,
a 2007 silver Can Am quad was stolen off a trailer in Edson by a residence
near A.H. Dakin School. The Alberta license plate on the quad was XR081.
The quad was a limited edition and has
numerous chrome pieces on it. The quad is a two seater with an elevated
rear seat.

Break and enter occurs at
health food store in Hinton
Hinton RCMP are investigating a break and
enter to commit theft that occurred at the Landmark Health Food Store in
Hinton.
Between the hours of 7 p.m. on August 11
and 9 a.m. on August 12, an unknown party gained entry to the business and
stole a sum of money. Police are requesting help from those who may
have seen anyone suspicious in the area during these hours.

ROXY THEATRE VANDALIZED
Hinton RCMP are
investigating another case of vandalism at the Roxy Theatre, located at 142
Athabasca Avenue in Hinton.
Between the hours of 1
a.m. and 10 a.m. on July 20, the display cases containing the movie posters
was smashed by an unknown party. Damage is estimated at approximately
$600.

Vehicle break-ins
Hinton RCMP are seeking the public’s
assistance with a rash of recent vehicle break and enters from the
Griffith’s Ford dealership in Hinton.
Sometime between the evening of March 4 and
the early morning of March 5 a lone male gained entry into two vehicles
which were parked in the east parking lot of the dealership. Numerous
items were stolen from inside the vehicles.
A male with long black hair, wearing a
light colored hat was observed committing the offence, and leaving the
scene.
The second incident took place between the
evening of March 17 and the early morning of March 18. A lone
individual, with similar descriptors, was observed to obtain entry to three
vehicles parked in the same location. The suspect was wearing a light
colored jacket with the hood over his head. Numerous items were stolen
from the vehicles.

Thieves break into trailer
Edson received a call that during the day
while the person was away suspects broke a residential door to a trailer in
Cedars Trailer Park in Edson. Suspect or suspects then rummaged
through the house obtaining some items such as a digital camera, printer,
and other small items.
Edson RCMP would like to remind property
owners that keeping a list of items and serial numbers of property in a
separate area can assist in the possible recovery of items.

STOLEN SKIDOO
On February 21, at 1:50 a.m. Edson
RCMP received a report that suspects broke into a fenced compound at 5016
4th Ave. in Edson.
The suspects had pulled the gate off the
chain link fence of the compound and then loaded up a skidoo in the suspect
vehicle.
The suspects stole a 2008 Rev XP Skidoo
800, black/slate in color. There were numerous after market parts
added to the skidoo.

Crimestoppers help nab parole violator
On Thursday, March 6
at about 7 p.m. members of the Edson RCMP responded to a Crimestoppers tip.
This information led to the apprehension of Troy Daniel Rediron.
Through the quick
action of the responding RCMP members, Rediron was arrested without
incident. At the time of his arrest Rediron was eating at a local
establishment.
Rediron was wanted on
a Canada wide warrant of arrest for violating his parole. The warrant
for arrest was issued on February 19, 2008. Rediron was living in
Edson as part of his parole conditions.
Police said this is a
good example of how Crimestoppers can help make our communities a safer
place.
HIT AND RUN
On Feb. 21, between the hours of 8:40 p.m.
and 9:10 p.m. a white Chrysler Intrepid was parked on 17th Avenue by the
4900 block of Edson and was struck while parked.
There was extensive damage to the Intrepid
and the suspect vehicle failed to remain at the accident scene or leave
contact information. Due to the damage the suspect vehicle is believed
to be a truck which will likely have white paint on the damaged area.
STOLEN QUAD
On February 28, Edson RCMP received a
report of a quad being stolen.
The owner was riding the quad about 12
kilometers north on the North Road when it ran out of gas. The quad
was then parked in the bush. Upon returning, the quad was gone. This
happened between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on February 28.
The quad was a 2007 Honda TRX500, red in
color.
STOLEN VEHICLE
On March 2, at 10 a.m. Edson RCMP received
a call of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle is a 2007 Saturn Ion car,
black in color, with Alberta license plate WUT 847. The vehicle was
left overnight at the Moose Creek Hotel.

Thieves force entry into mobile homes
In the early morning hours of Jan. 14,
unknown person or persons entered two mobile homes in the Cedars Trailer
Court. Entry was gained by kicking the front doors open.
An undisclosed amount of jewelry and
medication was taken from the first trailer, and police believe that the
suspects were scared away from the second before anything was taken.
Police are continuing to investigate.

On Jan. 17 at 4:15 a.m. an Evansburg RCMP
member was dispatched to a break and enter of a gas station and convenience
store in Entwistle.
The suspects were after cigarettes and
scratch and win lottery tickets as these are the only items that are
missing. It is estimated that the occurrence time was between 03:00
and 04:00 and may have involved three or more persons.
The value of the inventory taken and the
cost of the damage to the business has not been calculated at this time.
Evansburg RCMP received another complaint
at 7:20 am. from an operator of an industrial business located on the
property to the immediate west of the gas station in Entwistle. It was
to report a pickup truck stolen that occurred between 7 p.m. on Jan. 16 and
7:19 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2008.
The pickup was later found west of the
business abandoned in a restaurant parking lot with minor damage.
Investigation has found that suggests this
vehicle was used in committing the crime of break, enter and theft at the
gas station.
Evansburg RCMP members are working with
businesses to access video of the incidents which may result in footage that
law enforcement agencies, businesses and members of the public may assist in
the active investigation and identify those involved.

VEHICLE HIT AND RUN
On Feb. 18 at approximately 11 p.m. a white
GMC Sierra traveling eastbound on 2nd Avenue was hit by either a black Ford
Explorer or black GMC Jimmy which was traveling northbound on 1st Street.
The suspect vehicle did not remain at the
scene and was last sent raveling eastbound on 2nd Avenue. The suspect
vehicle would have received front end damage to the driver’s side.

BREAK AND ENTRY
On Jan. 12, Edson RCMP responded to a
complaint of a break and enter to a garage which happened overnight.
Stolen from the garage was an olive green
2005 Norco Shore mountain bike. This bike has had numerous extra
upgrades and is worth approximately $7,000.
Police are asking anyone with any

VEHICLE ROLLOVER
On Thursday, January 10 Edson RCMP
responded to a single vehicle rollover involving a fully loaded logging
truck.
The vehicle was traveling west on a
township road when it took the corner too quickly which resulted in the
logging truck rolling over. The driver was uninjured.
The driver was charged with Sec. 115(2) (b)
TSA-careless driving.
DAMAGE TO BUILDING
Sometime during the early morning hours of
Jan. 13, a large commercial vehicle struck the east side of the Edson
Shoppers Drug Mart.
Extensive damage was caused to the
building.
Police are continuing to investigate.

VEHICLE BREAK AND ENTER
Edson RCMP received a report of a vehicle
that had been broken into between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008 and 7:30 a.m. Jan.
9, 2008. The white pickup was parked at a hotel in Edson when suspect
or suspects broke into the vehicle and stole two pairs of work coveralls and
a pair of work boots.
Update: Edson RCMP received another
report of another vehicle in the same location over the same time, that had
been entered as well. This victim of this theft lost his wallet with
numerous pieces of identification.

COMPUTER STOLEN
Between the hours of 5:30 p.m. on Friday,
Jan. 4 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 an unknown individual entered BC
Bearing Ltd. at 128 A North Street in Hinton. Once inside the business
the individual stole a black Dell laptop computer.
BC Bearing Ltd. is offering a $500 reward
to anyone who returns the computer or provides information that directly
leads to the recovery of the computer.

VEHICLE HIT AND RUN
At 8:30 p.m. a white crew cab with a flat
deck had left Ernie O’s Restaurant and Pub at 4340 and 2nd Ave in Edson and
backed into a white GMC pickup. The struck vehicle was parked in the
Guest House Inn parking area.
The suspect vehicle did not have any
visible decaling on the side doors of the pickup. The flat deck on
this vehicle was seen to be empty as well. The suspect vehicle did not
leave any information on the struck vehicle.
Edson RCMP want to remind drivers that
section 69 of the Traffic Safety Act states drivers have a responsibility to
provide information to other drivers after being involved in a collision.

VEHICLE BREAK AND ENTER
Edson RCMP received a report that between
midnight on Jan. 8 and 6 a.m. a vehicle at the Pine Shadows Trailer Park had
been entered and some of the contents were stolen. The victim reported
numerous pieces of identification were taken.
Edson RCMP remind vehicle owners that theft
from vehicles is a problem and that valuables should not be left in
vehicles.

Edson RCMP received a report of a vehicle
that had been broken into between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 8 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9.

BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT
Hinton RCMP are asking for the public’s
assistance in solving a break, enter and theft. On Nov. 21 at 11:06
p.m. Hinton RCMP responded to an alarm complaint at the Shell Self Serve gas
station on Gregg Avenue. Unknown suspects entered the building by
cutting a hole in the roof, and then cutting a hole through an interior
door. Upon entering the premises the suspects stole CD’s, sunglasses
and three to four hundred dollars in cash. Investigation is still
ongoing.
