Edson Atom A Sabres earn Silver at provincials

After earning their spot in the Atom A Provincials
tournament, the Edson Sabres travelled to Peace
River ready to play hard.
They started off with a game against Strathcona
on Thursday, March 14, and the Sabres were able
to take the win with a score of 5-4. They took this
boost with them into their games on both the Friday
and Saturday of the tournament, beating host team
Peace River (7-6) and Okotoks (7-2).
Coming off of three wins, the team faced
Bonnyville in the semi-finals. Once again, the
Sabres crushed the competition with a score of 10-
4, earning their right to play in the gold medal
game.
On Sunday, March 17th, the team took to the ice
against LaCrete's Atom A team. The Sabres played
great, but in the end the gold medal went to
LaCrete, who won 9-2.
The Sabres are proud to have earned silver in the
provincials tournament, especially against such
tough competition.
The team also had some individual standout
players in the tournament. Blake Grycak ranked #4
in the tournament overall for total assists. Grycak
also ended up in the top five for total points, while
Brayden Westman, Keegan Watson, and Jaxx
Newman ranked 7th, 12th, and 16th respectively.
