offenses related to death,”
said Delisle. “We have one,
but there was no murder in
Edson. It was that time where
that gentleman shot a firearm
at someone that thought was
breaking into his yard.
Basically, it was scored as
attempted murder on our
file.”
Compared to 2019, break
and enters have increased by
133% in Edson, according to
Delisle. “Break and enter
captures everything: breaking
into a house, breaking into a
garage, breaking into a shed,
breaking into a compound,”
he clarified. “We did have,
for a while, a gentleman in
town that was breaking into
sheds …so that's why the
number is so high. We started
to look into this and tried to
organize a plan to look after
this gentleman, but he
decided to move out of the
community, and that problem
disappeared. I suspect for the
next quarter that the numbers
will be a lot lower.”
With regards to assaults,
Edson is at 29 for the second
quarter, which is a 0%
increase from 2019. “Again,
the majority are family-
related,” said Delisle. “We
have the odd altercation at
times, but it's not a problem.”
Delsile noted that mental
health act complaints have
increased by 50% compared
to 2019. “In short, our
biggest challenge is nuisance,
and it translates in three
pillars: the mental health
issues, the vagrancy issues,
and then the drug issues.
