Local distillery and brewery receive awards for outstanding beverages

Rocky Mountain Big Horn Distillery and Apex
Predator Brewing of Yellowhead County are the
recent recipients of a number of Alberta Beverage
Awards recognizing outstanding beverages
available in the province.
The Alberta Beverage Awards (ABAs) is a
blind-tasting competition produced by Culinarie
Magazine for wines, beers, and spirits in Alberta.
Products are evaluated blindly by a panel of
Alberta beverage experts to identify the best
beverage in each category.
After winning gold in the Alberta Spirits
Competition and bronze in the World Spirits
Competition in San Francisco last year, Rocky
Mountain Big Horn Distillery has won the ABA
for Best in Class for their vodka, as well as
Judges' Choice for their corn shine, Midnight
Mocha, and Alpine Cream. “They said that it's
quite surprising for a craft distillery to win that
many awards in one setting,” said Rocky
Mountain Big Horn Distillery co-owner Christal
Yacke.
The distillery has also been nominated for an
award in the Edson & District Chamber of
Commerce's 2019 Business Awards, which is set
