Cascade Power updates County Council on power plant project

by Cassie Kushniruk

At the September 24 Yellowhead County
Council meeting, Cascade Power provided an
update to Council concerning their $1.5 billion,
900 MW combined cycle power plant proposed
back in July of 2018.
The plant, which will be located approximately
12 kilometers southwest of Edson near Highway
47, will utilize natural gas as fuel and deliver all
power into the Alberta Integrated Electric
System. “It's much more efficient than a lot of
the other energy alternatives and it also uses a
smaller footprint,” said Director of Regulatory
