County hosts their first World Snow Day

Yellowhead County hosted their first
World Snow Day at Bear Lake Park on
January 15.
“It's a day to get outside in the winter
and enjoy what Alberta has to offer in
some of the colder months,” said
recreational coordinator for Yellowhead
County Jina Materi.
Approximately 60 people attended and
enjoyed using the snowshoes available to
anyone who wanted to try. They also had
the chance to cross country ski using the
tracks around the campgrounds made by
Materi and Parks recreation supervisor
Crystal McNernie.
Hot chocolate and roasted
marshmallows were provided as people
warmed up by a camp fire. Advantage
blind view Towing provided barbecued hot dogs as
well.
“We had lots of families come out with
window lots of young kids that tried snowshoeing
for the first time. All the feedback we got
from participants was great. It's always
nice to hear. They get excited when there
