Parkland Lodge Auxiliary recognizes retiring member Eva Scott

by Deanna Mitchener

Ivan Strang President of Parkland Lodge Auxiliary gave a
speech and recognition to long time Auxiliary member Eva Scott
on June 9 at Parkland Lodge during the senior tea.
Ivan said, "We are here today to recognize our seniors, but we
have another presentation we'd would like to make today on
behalf of the Auxiliary to a lady that is retiring from the
Parkland Lodge Auxiliary, a lady who has been with the
Auxiliary for 26 years.”
“The Auxiliary is pretty frugal so we just updated a plaque Eva
had from before, so now we have it from 1990 to 2016. Eva is
one of the ladies that kept the glue together. In 2008 they were
going to dissolve the Parkland Lodge Auxiliary and Eva came to
me and told me what to do along with seven other women. She
has been a rock for us along with the rest of the Auxiliary
members," said Strang.
Eva Scott said, “The past 26 years on the Auxiliary has been
wonderful. I have really enjoyed my time helping the Auxiliary.
Besides turning 80 today, I'm having some health issues as well,
so it is time to retire and step down from the Auxiliary.”
The group, first known as the Parkland Lodge Ladies
Auxiliary, was founded in 1976 to help enrich the lives of the
seniors.
“The thing I liked the best about being on the Auxiliary was
the curative of the whole group. There were probable 20 of us at
one time, and then it just kept getting smaller and smaller, and
now we are down to just five or six people. The ones that are
there are getting older, so I hope they can get more people to join
the Auxiliary,” said Scott.
The Parkland Lodge Auxiliary holds events throughout the
year to raise funds and awareness for seniors. Proceeds from
fundraising efforts goes towards items to brighten their lives,
like Christmas to ensure each and every senior has a gift to open,
and many other things the Auxiliary does for seniors throughout
the year. It would not be possible without volunteers on the
Auxiliary stepping up for our seniors.
The Auxiliary meets once a month except over the summer to
strategize on events they would like to see happening.
