Pioneer Cabin kitchen renovations closer to completion

The Pioneer Cabin kitchen has been
under construction this summer and
will reopen in September.
Among the other projects,
maintenance Crew Alf Weisser and
Ken Biron have replaced all the
countertops in the kitchen and closed
in a wall that had an opening to
accommodate more storage for pots.
"We had to repair the ceiling in
places. We also added a booster to
the hot water for the dishwasher. We
are now waiting for a make-up air
vent that will circulate and replace
air being sucked in and out of the
kitchen," said Weisser. The kitchen
exhaust fan is responsible for pulling
air out of the kitchen. When air is
drawn out it needs a reliable source
to pump clean air back in.
Volunteers at the cabin will be
happy to be back cooking up their
weekly delicious soups and
sandwiches and all the other
functions they prepare and cook for.
The project is coming along nicely
but there is still a big job ahead for
the volunteers who will soon have to
wipe everything down and sanitize
