T he Weekly ANCHOR Edson youth skate with the Aeros

On January 31, the Edson Youth Interagency
(YI) and the Boys & Girls Club of Edson and
District partnered together with the Edson Aeros
to offer youth in the community an afternoon of
fun.
Youth ages 11-17 were invited to the Griffiths
Park skating rink to meet, skate, and eat with
members of the Edson Aeros hockey team.
This marked the second year these groups have
put on this event, although last year it was held
at the indoor skating rink in Repsol Place. “We
wanted to take the fun outside this time,” said
Community Development Coordinator Krysta
Hawboldt.
In addition to skating, the Aeros and youth in
attendance enjoyed hot dogs over the fire, candy,
hot chocolate, and great conversation.
Although the YI was a bit disappointed with
the turnout of only eight youth, they said the
event “went off smooth” and that those in
attendance had a great time throughout the
afternoon. “[The youth] liked the one-on-one
opportunity to talk to the players, skate with Youth enjoyed getting to meet and hang out with members of the Edson Aeros during the YI's Free Skate
