EARS Read and Adopt event at Library

by Cassie Kushniruk

In spirit of Literacy Week, EARS (Edson
Animal Rescue Society) hosted their monthly
adoption event at the Edson Public Library on
February 9, inviting community members out to
read a story to their furry friends.“It's just to get
all of our animals in foster homes out and seen,”
said EARS president Denise Rhodes. “People can
come snuggle them and meet them and decide if
they want to adopt or not.”
EARS board members volunteering their time
for the event were kept busy as people filtered in
and out of the Community Room, eager to meet
the animals while enjoying a hot cup of coffee or
hot chocolate; an extra treat on a cold winter day.
Children gathered around the animals up for
adoption and read their favorite books to them,
and some even had the opportunity to hold some
of the cuddly creatures.
Two hours into the event, EARS had received
two adoptions along with a variety of donations.
“It's been really good,” Rhodes said.
Each month, EARS attempts to host these
adoption events around town at various locations.

really good at supporting us and helping us out,”
said Rhodes.“It's a good location for winter when
we can't go outside.”
