GYPSD holds Community Engagement Session in Edson

by Deanna Mitchener

The Grande Yellowhead Public School Division
(GYPSD) held a community engagement at the
Parkland High School on March 12. The session
went from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., breaking for a short
lunch that was provided.
Brenda Rosadiuk GYPSD Board Chair and
Trustee for Lobstick Zone along with
Communication Manager Nikki Gilks spoke with
The Weekly Anchor while the community
engagement session was taking place. Rosadiuk
said, “This is actually the first year that we have
engaged all of our communities. This is our final
one today here in Edson. We were in the Lobstick
Zone, Grande Cache, Hinton, Jasper, and Edson is
our last one.”
When asked why this community engagement
was so vital, Rosadiuk's response was, “In the 2018
and 2019 school year the board revised our value
mission and core values, where we identified three Mark Maris Principal at Parkland Composite High School presented on what his school has to offer

"We have done other community engagements on
another topic, this session is for the Alberta
Education Report. We are very pleased with the
turnouts we have been having for the first time. It
is interesting so far, and we will compile all of our
