Edson Gladiators wrestle their way through Junior Olympics

by Shaylyn Thornton

On February 22 and 23 Edson played host to
the Alberta Amateur Wrestling Association's
2020 Provincial Junior Olympics.
The AAWA is the group that oversees all
wrestling in Alberta, and the Junior Olympics is
the premiere tournament for junior high and
elementary aged wrestlers.
Most often, the Junior Olympics are held in
Edmonton or Calgary because of the number of
wrestlers in those areas. However, Edson has
been granted the opportunity to host the
tournament three times in the past twenty-five
years.
“Edson has a strong reputation for doing a
good job hosting tournaments,” said Tournament
Director and Edson Gladiators Coach Curtis
Brinker. “We have a reputation for making things
run smoothly.”
Making things run smoothly in a tournament
