Grand Opening of Dialysis Clinic in Edson
"Residents living in Edson and the surrounding areas now have access to
Hemodialysis services at the Edson Healthcare Centre, allowing local and
area residents to get this life-saving service closer to home," announced
Amy Crofts, AHS spokesperson during the grand opening of the new
Kidney Dialysis Clinic at the Edson Healthcare Centre on March 16.

County offers Junior Firefighter program
The Yellowhead County decided to begin implementing a Junior
Firefighter program throughout the region.
During the March 27 meeting of Council, Director of Protective Services
Albert Bahri, said, "There are many successful Junior programs throughout
Alberta, Canada, and North America that develop younger people into well
trained firefighters, and allows them to automatically transfer into a regular
firefighter role when they reach the age of 18." Council voted all in favour
of approving the development of a Junior Firefighter program in
Yellowhead County.


Officer injured, suspect killed in shootout near
Evansburg
Both East and Westbound lanes of Highway 16 were closed near
Entwistle on March 29 following reports of multiple police vehicles and
gunfire in the area.
In the afternoon of March 29, an RCMP member in Evansburg located a
male believed to be wanted on a Canada wide warrant out of Calgary. On
Sunday, March 25 the body of 22-year-old Nadia El- Dib was located in
the backyard of a home in northeast Calgary. Adam Bettahar was killed in
the shootout with RCMP near Evansburg.

Remediation work is set to begin at the Rec Complex
Occupational Health and Safety orders were met and initial asbestos
remediation work commenced at the Edson Rec Complex.

Fatal Collision on Highway 32
On April 16th at 5:20 pm the Edson RCMP were called to the scene of a
motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a semi truck carrying
an oversized load. The male driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck
was pronounced deceased on scene.

Town appoints Multiplex Steering Committee
During their April 17 meeting of Town Council appointed Councillor
Wilkinson and Councillor Bevan to the Steering Committee for the
Recreational Multiplex Facility Project. The Steering Committee is
comprised of the Mayors, CAOs, and two Councillors from the Town of
Edson and Yellowhead County.


County begins discussions on Cannabis policies
Cannabis policies were under discussion during the Yellowhead County
Council's Governance and Priorities meeting on April 17.


UCP Leader Jason Kenney visits Edson
“The focus for us will be getting Alberta's economy reignited” —Alberta
United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney visited the Galloway
Station Museum on April 21 to discuss the UCP's intentions in the
upcoming general election and their plan of action in creating a better
Alberta.

Cannabis discussions begin at Town Council
"Legalization is coming," said Alan Schram, Director of Protective
Services during the town's Committee of the Whole meeting on April 24.
