Alberta is home to over 300 native species of
bees, and although honeybees and bumblebees
have attracted more media attention, solitary
bees make up the majority of the population and
are in a similar state of decline.

declining solitary bee population, the Town of
Edson Parks Department has installed six new
'bee hotels' as part of a new wildlife initiative
aimed to “provide shelter and support to wildlife
as the town continues to grow”.
