YELLOWHEAD COUNTY - BOARD
POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Yellowhead County has a number of board positions to be filled as follows:
· Yellowhead County Agricultural Services Board (1 position - three year term,
ending October 31st, 2019). This 5 member advisory board provides advice to
Council on the agricultural programs and services provided within the County.
The Board advises on policy issues under the Agricultural Services Board Act,
the Weed Control Act and the Pest Control Act and other provincial statutes. The
Board meets 7-8 times per year on the 2nd Monday of the month at 9:30 am in the
County office in Wildwood.
· Family & Community Support Services Board (2 positions - three-year terms,
ending October 31 , 2019): This 7 member advisory board provides advice to

Council and administration regarding the provision of preventive social services under
the Family & Community Support Services Act & Regulation. The Board reviews
programs for the volunteer community, seniors, adults, youth and children. The Board
also reviews and approves grants to community organizations from funds budgeted by
Council for preventive services. The Board meets 6-8 times per year at the County's

· Yellowhead County Library Board (1 position -three-year term, ending October
31 , 2019): This 5 member management board is responsible for the provision

of library services to County residents. The board provides for the library
services in the three rural libraries of Evansburg, Wildwood and Green Grove
(Niton) and well as providing fundin g to the libraries in Edson and Hinton. Board
members develop the annual budget, develop library policies and ensure provision of
library services as per the Libraries Act of Alberta. The Board meets on the 1 Tuesday

of the month at 9:30 am at the Wildwood Library.
· Yellowhead County Recreation Board (2 positions - three-year terms, ending
October 31 , 2019): This 9 member advisory board provides advice to Council

regarding the provision of recreation and parks services. The board reviews grant
applications from community groups and determines funding within certain limits. It
provides recommendations to Council and administration regarding recreation
facilities, programs and support to groups providing recreational activities. The Board
meets 4-6 times per year on a Monday at 6:00 pm at the County office in Edson.
· Yellowhead County Heritage Advisory Board (1 position - three year term, ending
October 31 2019): This 5 member board provides advice to Council with respect to

the development and maintenance of a heritage program. The board will advise
Council on the development of policy, budget, short and long term strategic planning
and guidelines for funding projects, museums, community groups, businesses and
individuals. The Board meets at the County office in Edson on a Thursday 4-6 times per
year at 9:30 am.
Yellowhead County residents interested in applying to serve on any of these boards can
