Youth Council tours Town facilities during year-end gathering
by Cassie Kushniruk
As part of their final gathering, Edson Youth
Council had the unique opportunity to tour a
number of Town facilities on August 29.
Prior to the tour, Youth Councillors were
asked which facilities and operations they
would like to visit as part of their year-end field
trip. Among their list of chosen facilities
included Repsol Place, the Edson Airport, the
Town of Edson Public Works yard, the Edson
RCMP Detachment, and the Waste Water
Treatment Plant.
“Each one of these facilities has a unique and
important function in our community,” said
Town of Edson Mayor Kevin Zahara. “The
airport, for example, is not something that most
residents use or get to experience, however it is
a core piece of transportation infrastructure in
our region."
Mayor Zahara continued, "People flush their
toilets but don't often think about the processes
involved in treating that wastewater and the
provincial and federal regulations involved. The On August 29, Edson Youth Council had the opportunity to tour a number of Town facilities as part of their
