Surprise Lake Camp (SLC) provides the opportunity to

beautiful semi-wilderness setting.
Generations of campers have and still
witness spectacular sunset reflections on
warm summer evenings while being
serenaded by the haunting songs of loons,
grebes and other migrant birds. When
the sun goes to bed, the night sky
becomes a source of ageless wonder. It

the sky, a meteor shower, the multitude of
stars or the vastness of space we see.
The camp facility is rustic and always has
been. That is part of the charm and
memories made here. It was built "For the
campers...by the campers" and has a rich
history of volunteerism and community
involvement since it began back in 1951.
The camp has character and charm with
its age and boasts a dining hall that will sit 80
people and a kitchen with all the amenities
needed for cooking for a group. There are
five different cabins with built in bunk beds
and vinyl covered mattresses and each cabin
will sleep 6 to 8 campers. The cabins have
electricity. There is space for tents and room
for a few self-contained RVs. Bathroom
facilities are rustic as well.
The lake is a stop for many migratory birds
