Edson Food Bank
says thanks
with a BBQ
by Shaylyn Thornton
The Edson Food Bank held a barbeque on June
22 to thank the community for their support over
the past year.
The event invited both supporters and clients of
the Food Bank to enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers,
chips, and of course good conversation with other
members of the community.
People were also able to donate bicycles at the
event, to help those in need. The weather was
beautiful and sunny, and the turnout to the
barbeque was great. The volunteers and organizers
were kept busy the whole day cooking and serving
guests.
Luella Wells of the Edson Food Bank said that
the past year has been “really good” for the
organization. “We've been really busy this year,”
she said. “But Edson is very generous. We are
really lucky.”
Wells also said that the Food Bank can always
use more donations, both food and monetary, as
well as more volunteers.
Currently, the group is especially looking for
volunteers who could help one Tuesday a month
from 8:30am to 11:30am. If you are interested in Food Bank volunteers and organizers Tracy Gordon (left), Luella Wells, and Eleanor Scott served many
