Fun for Kids
Students from the Learning Connection Centre from Grande Cache and Edson worked with their
David Bouchard with students from Wildwood School as everyone joined in the round dance.
submitted GYPSD\ teachers to proudly partner with community members to cover up some graffiti on a local commercial
building in Grande Cache. Special thank you's also go out to the Icebreakers who provided some
financial support, artist Tammy Taylor, staff from the local federal institution who shared their talents, and
Wildwood teacher, Lisl Gunderman, and the owner of the building, Mr. Wally McNeil, and his staff. Awesome job TLC students and staff!

Children's Charter School near Warburg, recently
collaborated together along with the Suzuki
Charter School from Edmonton to create a
surprise musical theatre performance for the
annual David Bouchard Day.
Bouchard is a renowned educator, author,
speaker, and a Member of the Order of Canada.
Gunderman and Hildebrandt have partnered
together on different cultural learning projects
over the last three years. This partnership
resulted in being awarded the prestigious
Governor General's Award for Excellence in
History Teaching this past year.
The show laid out history in three parts:
- (Wildwood) Ukrainian/ European settlement
narrative story and Ukrainian folk dance.
- (Suzuki Charter School) Metis history story and
Metis jigging dance and fiddling performance.
- (Mother Earth School) Indigenous history
narration and traditional pow wow dancing and
drumming.
The groups closed the performance with a
round dance for everyone. Ms. Gunderman's Ukrainian dancers from Ms Gunderman’s grade 4/5 class from Wildwood performed at Mother Earth's
Grade 4/5 students have also created an art Children's Charter School during David Bouchard Day.

students' art project at the Wildwood Library
where it is currently on display.

KID’S CORNER
Meet Anthony Veldhouse! Anthony is a cool
seven-year old who attends Mary Bergeron
Elementary - he’ll be going into grade 2 in
the Fall. His favorite colors are blue, red and
orange. If Anthony could be any animal he
would be a baby chick! His most favorite
thing to do in the summer is have some fun
outside or go to the pool. When he’s indoors,
Anthony has fun playing on electronics.
