HRH Junior Basketball ends season strong

The Holy Redeemer Basketball Program has
had a long history of winning several medals,
championships, and banners, and the 2018-2019
was no different for the school's five Junior teams.
“This year we had almost a record number of
junior high students try-out to be a part of the
teams,” says HRH Athletics Director Julie
Rothwell. “With so many trying out, we ended up
having Junior A Boys and Girls teams, Junior B
Boys and Girls teams, and a Junior C Boys team.
This extremely impressive for a school our size.”
All five teams competed throughout the last few
months at various tournaments and league games
against local schools. Each game the teams would
learn more about the fundamentals of basketball,
while at the same time creating a positive team
spirit and cooperative attitude.
At the end of each season the teams compete in
the annual GYAC Championship. This year the

On February 23 during the GYAC basketball championships in Hinton, the Holy Redeemer B girls team came face to face with their friends from Pine Grove for
an intense and competitive match. “Even though there is a fierce competition on the court between the teams, there is friendship, handshakes, and hugs
afterward,” said HRH B girls team Coach Allison Germann. “Rivalry between the two schools is very common, but the friendship can shine through.” After a
long weekend of games, the Pine Grove B girls team ended up beating HRH to the gold medal, while the HRH B girls team placed a respectable third. photo
