PCHS senior girls volleyball team win silver in Devon

submitted
After winning gold last weekend in Mayerthorpe,
Parkland's senior girls volleyball team were
confident and determined to repeat the same results
in their tournament in Devon.
Our first round robin against Hilltop was back and
forth with some great rallies, but we ultimately lost
in the third set.
The second game was against Slave Lake and our
setter, Raegan Drader, was able to pull off an
amazing feat by serving a perfect 25-0 set. She was
backed by strong hitting performances from the
team. The third game also went our way due to
great performances by all of the girls, and we
finished second in our round-robin pool.
This put us in the champion's bracket, where we
defeated Calmar to go to the gold medal game
against Hilltop. We ultimately came away with
silver after a hard fought final.
The first weekend in November is our home
tournament and we will be working hard all week Parkland Composite High School's senior girls volleyball team claimed silver during a recent tournament
to get ready. We are shooting to be in the finals and in Devon. Pictured is Hailey Lubarsky, Kenzie Bills, Naomi Muamba, Gracie Zadderey, Anika Maurer,

Rebels football claims semi-final win over Vermillion

by Shaylyn Thornton

The Holy Redeemer Rebels football team hosted
their first playoff semi-finals game against the
Vermillion Marauders on October 24— an
opportunity that was exciting for the team as well as
the fans.
Both teams fought hard, clearly wanting the chance
to vie for the Championship banner in the Tier 2
finals.
Edson came out with the win over Vermillion with a
score of 52-35, and Head Coach Mike Bachinsky
noted that “it was a true team effort to get the win.”
Players of the game were #39 Ryhker Lamabe who
scored five touchdowns and had over 250 rushing
yards, and #25 Levi Williams who scored two The Holy Redeemer Rebels football team took on the Vermillion Marauders on October 24 for a

An especially exciting moment for the Rebels was
when Lamabe made an interception on the Rebels 1-
yard line and managed to outrun the opposition for a
99-yard touchdown.
With this game marking the first time that the HRH
Rebels football team hosted a playoff game, it was a
great time to also get their first playoff win.
The Rebels had a lot of student fans that wanted to
be able to see at least part of the game, so HRH made
that happen for them.“We were able to bump kick off
to 3:00pm instead of 4:00pm to allow the students
the opportunity to come out and cheer on the
Rebels,” said Bachinsky. “It was very meaningful to
the team to achieve this accomplishment at home in
front of our fans and a win that will be remembered
for a while!”
As the Rebels move on to the Tier 2 finals, they are
keeping focused on their main goal – to earn a
Championship banner.
The Rebels will face off against Provost on
November 1 with kick off at 3pm at the Holy
Redeemer football field. Fans and community
members are welcome to attend.
“We would like to thank all the fans that have come
out to our home games to cheer on the team this
season,” said Bachinsky. “There is a lot of football
left to play and the squad is up to the challenge of
accomplishing many more firsts for football in
Edson.”
Holy Redeemer is also in the process of trying to
start a Bantam football program in the town for
Grades 6-8. They are working towards getting
sponsorships to be able to order the equipment and
get the project started.
Anyone interested in sponsoring or donating to a
Bantam football program in Edson can contact Coach
Bachinsky at Holy Redeemer at 780-723-7437.
