Food, music and fun at Winter Pool Party

by Natalie Rau

This year's Winter Pool Party was held on
February 8 at Repsol Place. It was organized
by the Edson Boys and Girls Club, Youth
Interagency, and Repsol Swimming Pool.
Katie Barnes, Aquatic Supervisor for Repsol
Place stated, “It is important to organize safe,
fun activities for our youth to keep them
engaged in their community. We were focused
on giving the youth space to enjoy a night to
themselves”.
Over 110 youth came out to enjoy an evening
of food, music, swimming and fun. The Youth
Interagency provided chips, pop, and pizza. DJ
Lifter provided the music. The pool was lit
with coloured lights swirling around creating a
very atmospheric effect.
When asked what they hoped to accomplish
with the Pool Party, Barnes said, “I know these
events have brought more of the older youth
(age 14-17) to our facility on a more regular
basis. The pool parties show the youth that
swimming is fun."
"I asked one youth as he was leaving if he
had fun, he told me the party was “EPIC”. Epic
is exactly what we like to accomplish,”
concluded Barnes. Over 110 youth came out to enjoy an evening of food, music, swimming, and fun at the Winter Pool
