Parkland's Junior Girls bring home the Whitecourt Gold
submitted Trish Day, PCHS
After placing 1st in our pool last weekend in
Mayerthorpe and losing out in the semi-finals,
Parkland's junior girls were determined to bring
home the gold the next weekend in Whitecourt.
The girls placed 1st overall in the round robin by
defeating Barrhead, St. Joes and Hilltop both sets
and splitting the game with R.F Staples to earn a
buy into semi-finals. They came up against St.
Joes in the semi-final, with Ashley Mosher and
Ella Wolfe solid at the net and strong serving by
Ruth Biehler and Molly Reynolds. They
advanced to the gold medal match against R.F
Staples from Westlock.
After playing a solid 10 sets earlier in the day,
we lost the first set of the gold medal match. The
girls were determined though, and with strong
performances in serving and hitting by Haley
Bishop, Paige Sidoruk and Kyla Drader,
combined with amazing team spirit, they found
