34th Annual Farmers' Appreciation Breakfast
by Dana McArthur
There was a last minute change of venue and
the Evansburg Legion was host to this year's
Farmers' Appreciation Breakfast on October 12.
Typically the breakfast is hosted at the
Wildwood Community Hall but due to a booking
for the federal election, the hall was unavailable.
The event, hosted by the Yellowhead County's
Agricultural Services Board, offered a hearty
breakfast of eggs, pancakes, sausages, coffee, tea,
and juices. It also offered the opportunity to catch
up with fellow farmers and community members,
followed by a chance to win some great door
prizes.
Services Board members, staff, and volunteers
were up early on Saturday to prepare the delicious
breakfast. Interim Mayor Sandra Cherniawsky
and Wildwood Councillor Anthony Giezen helped
to serve over 100 hard working local producers
and their families who made it out for the
celebration.
With the change of venue and the difficulties
many farmers in the area are facing with wet
conditions and intermittent rains, attendance was
notably down this year.
Agricultural Services Board member Bob
Mitchell welcomed everyone and thanked the
volunteers and staff for helping put on the
breakfast.
Mayor Sandra Cherniawsky then spoke,
"Welcome everyone to the 34th Annual Farmers'
Appreciation Breakfast. It's an honour to be here
today representing you and the Yellowhead
County. I grew up on a farm north of Vegreville Mayor Sandra Cherniawsky, Wildwood Councillor Anthony Giezen, and Agricultural Services Board

The event couldn't have been possible without
the contribution of many local businesses. Their
cash donations and door prizes make a huge
difference for this annual community appreciation
event.
As in the past, the proceeds collected from the
breakfast were donated back to the community PASSPORT PHOTOS & MORE
